CDC guidelines are recommending all patients get booster vaccination 8 months after last Covid 19 vaccine. Current CDC data seems to indicate that immunity levels are starting to wean 8 months after vaccine.

Methodist West Hospital is scheduling Covid 19 vaccination for patient's age 65 and older. Please watch for getting a text message or email invitation. If you do not get an invitation please email covidvaccinequestion@houstonmethodist.org.

I recommend all immunosuppressed patients receive the COVID vaccine unless they have had anaphylaxis in the past. However, there is a risk that immunosuppressed patients may not mount an immune response.

The Covid 19 vaccine is recommended to be avoided in any patient who has had severe anaphylaxis reactions to any injections in the past. All other patients are recommended to get the Covid 19 vaccine.

We had very few Covid cases in the last 2 months and now have had some patients turning positive at our office. Also Methodist West Hospital has had an increase in admissions for Covid-19 in the last few days. Please get back to being careful.
